Answer to Question 9

 

This website is being totally rearranged in the autumn of 2011 to concentrate on the one central point described on the website front page.

On that page there is a list of questions and the answers are on these linked pages. These answers may be complete, preliminary or not yet done. Hopefully most will be done by lat October 2011.

 

The answer to question 6 made it clear that the general cause of Low Back Pain is civilised forms of sitting, particularly where the backrest is shaped to provide lumbar support. Even more so where, as in a car, the seat surface is tilted backwards which will roll the pelvis even further backwards.

 

The solution must therefore be to avoid such seats and to design seating on the principle of Pelvic or Iliac support.

 

This is the subject of most of the rest of this website and of the associated website www.backseat.co.uk

Both websites have been built up since about 2000 and need revising to clarify the basic principles.
